Google’s recent announcement of an AI Futures Fund shows the company wants to invest in AI startups. It sees itself as providing capital, early access to AI models yet to reach production, and support for startups from experts at the company. This is not Google’s first rodeo. To date, Alphabet (Google’s parent company) has invested in 38 AI companies. Big name acquisitions to date include the UK’s DeepMind, Waymo, the autonomous vehicle intelligence company, and home automation specialist Nest. While such investments signal a broad intent to at least associate Google with startups coming to market with a smart idea (if not…
Simon Sinek is one of those people I can’t help but pay attention to. The way he emphasizes clarity of purpose, empathy, and leadership resonates with anyone wanting to up their productivity game without burning out in the process. A while ago, I discovered that the most productive folks I know aren’t necessarily the ones spending thousands on fancy productivity apps or attending every self-help seminar out there (though I’m not knocking a good seminar if it works for you). They’re the ones quietly practicing simple habits — no pricey subscription required. If you’re thinking you’ve got to radically overhaul…
The big picture: Cerabyte and Western Digital have formed a strategic partnership to accelerate the development of ceramic-based storage solutions. Cerabyte has spent years refining its long-term storage technology and will likely use Western Digital’s backing to bring its ambitious concept closer to a consumer-ready product. As more data is archived digitally, the inherent fragility of bits remains a pressing issue. The answer may lie in ceramics. Western Digital has invested in Cerabyte, a company developing a groundbreaking storage technology designed to preserve data reliably for millennia. Cerabyte’s technology stores digital data on ceramic nanolayers, using lasers to etch QR…
Samsung today introduced the Galaxy S25 Edge, an ultra thin smartphone that will compete with Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 “Air.” The Galaxy S25 Edge features a 6.7-inch AMOLED display and it measures in at 5.8mm thick. Comparatively, rumors suggest that the iPhone 17 Air will have a 6.6-inch display and a thickness of 5.5mm, so it may be slightly smaller and thinner than the S25 Edge. The Galaxy S25 Edge weighs 163 grams, so the thin design and the light weight are noticeable when it is compared to a standard Galaxy S25 Ultra or a current iPhone 16 Pro Max.…
Priyanka Kumari and Pandian Rajaram have been meaning to get back to Silicon Valley for the last sevens month to gather the furniture they put in storage just before flying to Huntsville, Alabama to join the three-month long HudsonAlpha AgTech Accelerator program that started last October. But Kumari and Rajaram’s schedules have been so packed with investor and customer meetings in Alabama that they simply haven’t had time to fly back and get the rest of their personal items. Simply put: “Alabama has kept us busy,” Rajaram explained to Hypepotamus, as consumers and enterprise businesses have realized the value in their startup, See…
Fintech giant Stripe announced Wednesday a slew of new product launches at its annual Stripe Sessions user event. The highlights include a new AI foundation model for payments; stablecoin-powered accounts; a new Orchestration offering, and a recent migration with chip behemoth Nvidia. Stripe’s payments foundation model has been trained on tens of billions of transactions, Emily Glassberg Sands, Stripe’s head of information, said. So it “captures hundreds of subtle signals about each payment” that other models would miss, she said. One use case is improved fraud detection. Stripe’s previous models “gradually” reduced card-testing attacks by 80% over two years. Card-testing…
